Brief histories of each coastal community and an extensive listing of restaurants, bed and breakfasts, and more.
This is the third edition of a guide first published in 1992 that covers the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico from Mississippi through the Florida panhandle. It is divided into sections by state and area, with the most pages devoted to Alabama. The sections are then divided by city or small area, with a brief description and history of each. The book details museums, bed-and-breakfasts, and many restaurants as well as mentioning places of historical interest, e.g., houses, forts, train stations, and parks. For shoppers, there are articles about various stores and markets. Occasionally, recipes of local dishes are also included. A useful guide to the area for public libraries.AGeorge M.
