The patterns and textiles of indigenous cultures have long fascinated Irene Klar in their texture, pattern, design and composition. She has chosen the female figure and examples of traditional womens work: the woven baskets and textiles made in traditional cultures in her work with the intaglio medium. Her inspiration comes full circle when she impresses actual fabric onto the etching plate to recreate the texture of the textiles that intrigued her.
