The blue cloth boards are in good condition (slight bumping of spine top, slightly bowed front cover). 7 x 5 ½, 87 pages, 12 ounces XX [From the preface] From the beginning of the New Deal, the American people have been subjected to a flood of propaganda and ballyhoo unsurpassed since the World War. On one side, charges have been made that the Rooseveltian program is doing violence to the Constitution and, as a result, the American system of government is in danger. From the other side, assurances have repeatedly been given that all that has taken place and all that is being done is within the Constitution and in accord with the American tradition. To the average American citizen this is very puzzling. Is the Constitution really being violated or is it merely being used as a political football? To enable each person to formulate an answer to this question is the purpose of this book. Believing that there is a general lack of knowledge concerning the Constitution of the United States and an even greater lack of information in regard to fundamental Constitutional principles, the authors have attempted to set forth the basic features of the American constitutional system. In so doing, illustrations have been freely borrowed from the New Deal. After all, it is the New Deal which the people must judge. But for judging, information rather than emotion is very much needed. XX [From the web] Prof. Erik McKinley Eriksson of the University of Southern California is a well-known historian. Professor Eriksson is a native of Odebolt [Iowa] and is a graduate of the State University with A. B. A. M. and Ph. D. degrees. He was professor of history and head of the department at Lombard college, Galesburg, Ill. 1922-25; instructor in American history at Iowa State Teachers college, summer 1922; lecturer in American history, State University of Iowa, summer 1925; professor of American history and head of department, Coe college 1925-29; historian of Coe college, 1927-29; and has been at the University of Southern California since 1929. [He was the author of numerous books of history and political science]. Professor Eriksson was born in 1896 and died in 1941.…
