Presumed first edition. Clean, crisp, tight, and bright, this copy may have been read once, very carefully. Tip of one leaf bent, o/w no defects, pristine. Dust jacket is clean and bright, with moderate shelf wear and one closed !/2" tear. Presentation note from author, with author's signature, on front flyleaf. 164 pages, well illustrated with b&w photos, drawings. An account of archaeological teams' efforts, along with the author, to locate and preserve important historical artifacts and remains following a devastating 1983 fire at the Little Bighorn National Monument in southeastern Montana. Also chronicles studies of two other sites associated with Custer's life: Fort Abraham Lincoln near Mandan, North Dakota, and Custer's birthplace, in New Rumley, Ohio.
