Fine unread condition color photographic softcover wraps. Includes Preliminary Page Book Description; Author Dedication; Foreword; Glossary and References. Illustrated with color photographs, black-and-white photographs, diagrams, maps, etc. The rear cover has a thin 1 1/2 inch indent; the volume is otherwise in as new condition. (see photographs). The front cover contains a 1 1/2 inch by 1 inch square yellow sticker with red letters stating "Signed by Author". Signed by the author with black pen on the full title page. "Bob" Schabilion (September 30, 1925 - November 13, 2014) began with an early rock collection and was encouraged by his parents while growing up in Davenport, Iowa. He later moved to Mississippi where he purchased a plot of land rich with natural geologic history, Here, with his family established The Mississippi Petrified Forest. Bob now resides in North Carolina where he amassed great collections of mines and mining equipment. Through research and study, he became knowledgeable on the early mines of Mitchell and neighboring counties. Bob produced this second edition book with great respect for the miners of earlier years.
