Synopsis:

The story touches on society's fascination with the acquisition of material wealth to the detriment of life's all-important intangibles. A soft sci-fi adventure, the futuristic tale deals more with remembering our humanity than with hard-to-imagine techno wizardry. Set some six years following history's most devastating war (nearly 2 billion lost their lives), characters Scott and Timm, through the latter's mural art, become an integral part of the Survival Treaty, which was created to restore global harmony. Lord Ozone and his evil army of ForLords, however, have other plans: namely, using an arsenal of unusual weapons to eliminate the human race. Teamed with the affable Pockets, Global Government Liaison Willie, a group of energetic students and twelve whimsical Dropas - using secret weapons of their own - Scott and Timm undertake a mission to stop Lord Ozone and preserve the goal of global harmony.

About the Author: Scott Etters was born in Cary, Illinois in 1963. He lived there for more than twenty-two years before taking his first job out of college. After graduating from Bradley University with a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics, he worked at a utility company as a Programmer/Analyst for two-and-a-half years. He then moved to St. Louis to work for McDonnell-Douglas (now Boeing); conducting Artificial Intelligence research. While in St. Louis, Scott acquired his M.B.A. in Finance with the intention of fulfilling one of his dreams - owning a business. When he moved back to the Chicago area, he accepted a position at Argonne National Laboratory while co-founding Odyssey Creations, Inc. in 1992 with his brother, Timm.

From inspirations in his life and personal experiences, Scott began his story of the Dropas. As the story progressed, he realized he had found a new passion in life, that of writing. As the first book neared completion, he decided to publish the book himself so that the story would remain an original of his own creation, while Timm created the art work on the cover. In 1998, they co-founded Perikles Publishing, Inc., the literature arm of their art company.

Scott is working with area schools in an effort to develop Meet-the-Author programs/workshops for area students. Each program will take on a different look, ranging from selected readings to information about realizing one's dreams and taking advantage of the opportunities encountered in life.

Scott plans to promote his book and refine his school and group programs before he returns to writing the second book in the Dropa adventure. His future plans also include developing children's books so the children can "grow up" with the Dropas. Scott is also getting his feet wet in the music business. He is co-producing the soundtrack (same title) for his book with an expected release date of April 2000.
