The Drying of Bricks by R. W. Ford.

VINTAGESTAN BOOKS Title: The Drying of Bricks by R. W. Ford. Summary: The Drying of Bricks examines one of the most critical stages in brick manufacture: removing water from newly formed ("green") bricks before firing. Ford explains that drying is not simply evaporation; it is a controlled process that strongly influences product quality, energy consumption, and manufacturing efficiency. Ford argues that successful brick production depends heavily on understanding and controlling the drying process. The ideal drying regime removes moisture gradually and uniformly, minimizing internal stresses and ensuring that bricks enter the kiln in a stable condition. The book combines practical guidance for brick manufacturers with the scientific principles of heat transfer, evaporation, moisture movement, and shrinkage. Author: R. W.
