25 cm, 550 pages. Illus., index, small amount of ink underlining on p. 428, ink marks in margin of a few pages. Inscribed by the author. This copy is signed by the author, and inscribed to Richard Griffis (1934-2011), like Andrew Young a minister in the United Church of Church. There is a handwritten notation on p. 550 (unsigned, but appears to be in Young's handwriting); this notation refers obliquely to Geoffrey Griffis (Richard's son) who had voted in favor of expanding enrolIment and facilities at Georgetown Day School. The book includes a visionary afterword that charts a course for America and its role in the world as a standard-bearer for freedom, peace, and prosperity. A book of exceptional power, drama, and immediacy, which tells the story of the civil rights movement.
