Page proof" "Enemies" from The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien…illustrations by Fritz Scholder Synaesthesia Press: Arizona 2001, 17 x 14", black lettering on cream paper, creased, chipped, lacks lower left corner else good to very good condition. Contains an excerpt from "Enemies". Pencil note "page proof 7/7" and signed with a stylized "J". The letter is on Synaestheisa Press letterhead, 8.5 x 11", black lettering on thick cream paper, creasing else good to very good condition. Dated October 8, 2001 and addressed to John (book collector John Perterfield of Sylvania, Ohio). He writes- in part- "A tube, with nothing more than a page proof from 'Enemies' and 'Friends'. And you were expecting a book…But first, a bit on the page proof. I was pulling these over the summer…and tossing them in the trash…and then I thought maybe the patrons would like a proof…numbered a handful of them, signed them, and shipped them…Maybe you'll find it interesting…The Tim O'Brien book, for the most part, is done. I'm sewing the wrappered edition…Expect a box at your door early next week…" A total of four pieces, sold as a lot. A great collection. Extra postage required.
