Farewell Dinner Menu Signed by Brigadier General Ned Schramm, Bad Kissingen, Germany, 1946 9.5 x 5.5-inch printed menu, 4 x 6-inch invitation A few light creases to menu, just a touch of spotting. Very Good. A colorful, illustrated double-sided menu for the "Farewell Dinner" for Brigadier General Ned Schramm, signed by the guest of honor. Accompanying the menu is the original invitation card: "The Officers of 64th Fighter Wing request your presence" at the party held at the Hotel Villa Elsa in Bad Kissingen, Germany, May 18, 1946. General Schramm (1896-1983) was awarded the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal, and Commendation Ribbon. He also held the Order of Polonia Restituta from Poland and both the Legion of Honor and Croix de Guerre with Palm of France. He was rated a Command Pilot, Combat Observer and Aircraft Observer, and held a long and celebrated career in the United States Military. In September 1945 he was appointed commanding general of the 64th Fighter Wing, and returned to the United States in May 1946, when he was assigned to Army Air Forces headquarters. On July 31, 1946, he was named deputy commander and chief of staff of the Fourth Air Force at Hamilton Field, California, and in January 1949 became vice commander of the Fourth Air Force.
