My Father's Truth

My Father’s Truth is the biography of Guido Ruggiero, an Italian American with roots in Malvito, Italy. Born to immigrant parents in Mamaroneck, New York in 1913, he lived many stories during his ninety-two years – an immigrant’s story, a war story, a love story, a dancer’s story. Ballroom dancing was his passion. Dancing on the stage of Madison Square Garden in the Harvest Moon Ball was the highlight of his professional career. The author is his adopted daughter. My Father’s Truth is her personal journey to understand who she is because of her father and who she is without him. She explores the influence that the Italian culture has had in their relationship and shares her struggles as caretaker of elderly parents and the profound impact of their deaths.
