With an Elver Fly, conceived by Authur Ransome and dressed by Annie Douglas, on a size 8 up-eye salmon hook, mounted within an oval recess on the inside of the front cover. Signed by Annie Douglas under the fly. Color frontispiece showing several salmon flies, including the Elver, which is dressed with the feathers from the Blue Vulturine Guineafowl. Introduction by Jeremy Swift. Color plus black and white plates. Arthur Ransome was an inquisitive angler who developed several effective fly patterns as well as an angler with eclectic tastes. In this book he also covers fishing books, fly fishing authors, and fishing companions. The book is bound in full brown morocco with gilt titles on the spine and front cover decorations. Marbled end papers. All edges gilt. The book is kept on a matching brown drop-back box with gilt titles on the spine panel. A beautiful book. In fine condition.
