Churchill 1946," this candid photograph was taken September 19, 1946 en route to the University of Zurich, where Winston Churchill was about to deliver his most famous postwar speech on European unity, advocating for the first time "a United States of Europe."The photograph measures 7 1/4 x 9 3/4 inches and and has been majestically framed (16 x 17 3/4 inches overall.) It is part of an elaborate linen presentation portfolio of photographs taken that day documenting all of Churchill's movements in Zurich. Each photograph is very handsomely mounted and numbered on the page, comprising 44 pages of different photographs of Winston Churchill in total, including the framed photograph (numbered 12).The portfolio is stained and crunched on the spine but the contents are fine. The original owner of this truly one-of-a-kind portfolio was the Town Clerk of Zurich, one Dr. Willy Bosshard. 7 /14 x 9 3/4 inches (Framed: (16 x 17 3/4 inches). 44 photographs in all.
