Ink signatures of Jamie Whitten obtrusively written on all three edges (i.e. top edge, fore-edge, and bottom edge). Author's five-line ink inscription "To Jamie Whitten - | with the admiration of - | Edward H. Sims | June 22, 1979 | Asheville, N.C." upon the front free endpaper; interior leaves are otherwise clean. A very good- copy in a very good dust jacket with the Mississippi Congressman Jamie Lloyd Whitten (1910-1995) was elected to twenty-seven terms in the US House of Representatives serving from November 4, 1941 to January 3, 1995 and chaired the powerful Appropriations Committee from 1979 to 1992.
