A typed letter signed John J Pershing shortly after he led the United States to victory in World War I. He wrote to Lewis Nixon of New York City: I regret very much that I was unable to accept your very kind invitation to visit at your home and attend the start of the aeroplane race from Mineola Field next Wednesday, October 8th. I thank you very much for your thought of me and for your kind invitation. I shall take pleasure in extending your remembrances to Senator Warren the next time I see him. The autograph is dark and the letter has been trimmed from its original size.
