About Diane E. Roblin-Lee Diane Roblin-Lee never meant to be a writer. Sure, English was always easy in school, but no one she had ever known used it for more than everyday tasks and communication. Her love for people led her to a career in Social Work. But the government red tape frustrated her right out of her lab coat into a high school gym where she taught phys ed and guidance until her family started to grow. Other than teaching adult fitness classes in the evenings, Diane thought her career had morphed naturally into motherhood and PTA meetings. But then life happened. After ten years of marriage, she hit the wall and began to grope for a purpose in life. What she found was so transformational for her that she tried to tell everyone within listening distance, in hopes that they, too, could find answers. But few were interested. It was impossible to explain the height and width and depth of the whys and wherefores of her changes. She decided she would have to write a book; then people could read it, if interested, or chuck it in the trash if not. Whatever the result, she would be released from her need to share her story over and over again because it would be instantly available to everyone. Knowing instinctively that she would have to have a "hook" to get a book by an unknown author published, Diane decided that the one thing setting her apart from most people was the fact that she was the daughter of a minister. Putting her Sociology 400 courses to work, her first book, My Father's Child, was a research study on ministers and their children. Shortly after its release, with over 12,000 sales, it became a Canadian bestseller. That led to numerous appearances on 100 Huntley Street and other daytime talk shows - and seven years as a regular host of Nite Lite. Comfortable on camera and gaining some name recognition, she was asked to host an early TV fitness program, called Total Fitness: Body, Mind, and Spirit. Then came a teen talk show she hosted and co-produced, Raiders of the Lost. In response to requests for more of her work, Diane wrote a second book, Growing in the Spirit. In 2006, she started a small custom-publishing house. Some of her work can be seen on her website www.bydesignmedia.ca For five years, she worked with the Weston family to produce several private family history books. In 2004, Diane was commissioned by The Peoples Church in Toronto to write and design a history of the church for their upcoming 75th anniversary. The book, Into All the World, was foreworded by Dr. Billy Graham and was selected by TWG as the best Canadian book in its category in 2005. In 2006, Diane developed a legacy journal in which seniors could record their values, insights, and experiences for the benefit of oncoming generations: To My Family...My Life Legacy. See www.mylegacylinks.com. And then came tragedy-trauma. In 2006, Diane's husband was convicted of child molestation and went to prison. Determined to find purpose in pain, she immersed herself in researching how parents, grandparents, churches, and organizations could protect the children in their care from child sexual abuse. The result was a nine-booklet series, Predator-Proof Your Family which is now a recognized Amazon series and can be found at https: //www.amazon.com/dp/B07F855KSB These booklets are now being used as resources in the "Plan to Protect(R)" protocols for school, organizations, churches, and groups. Predator-Proof Your Family Series: 1 - Why All the Fuss 2 - Who is the Predator? 3 - Predator-Proofing our Children 4 - Predators in Pews and Pulpits 5 - The Porn Factor 6 - It's All About the Brain 7 - When the Worst That Can Happen Has Already Happened 8 - Smart Justice 9 - The Husband I Never Knew In 2007, Diane established byDesign Media, through which she produced the Crossroads Compass magazine for three years and expanded her custom publishing and designing skills. The website is www.bydesignmedia.ca.
