Signed copy of the 1965 edition of Nobel Laureate Pearl S. Buck's Pulitzer Prize winning historical novel of China. Originally published in 1931. Buck's portrait of China significantly influenced American perspectives about China in the pre-World War II era. Signed by Pearl S. Buck on the half title page. Cloth, 316 pages. The book has some foxing on the top page edge and a vertical wrinkle on the spine that appears to have occurred when the book was bound. The dust jacket has the top corner of the front flap clipped but an original price remains intact on the bottom corner. The dust jacket also has edge wear including small chips at the top and bottom of the spine and some foxing on the back cover.
