About the Author: After graduating from Furman University with a Bachelor s degree in elementary education, she taught in the Greenville County Schools until moving with her family to Charleston in 1965. She earned a Master s degree in education from the Citadel and taught on James Island until her retirement in 1988. She taught elementary school for a total of thirty years.
