Healing Through Humor: Change Your Focus, Change Your Life!

What's funny about a brain injury or breast cancer? You'll be surprised. These true-life stories show the funny side of some not-so-funny challenges and demonstrate the "upside" to the uphill struggles with illness and injury and the downhill triumphs in overcoming them.

Journey the path to self-empowerment and survival, even in the face of seemingly impossible circumstances, with a good laugh along the way.

Annette Langer grew up in and around metropolitan Chicago where she received her undergraduate degree Magna Cum Laude from Loyola University with a major in Counseling Psychology. She spent a long career holding various positions with the Federal Government before reaching her ultimate goal: early retirement! Langer then prepared herself for her "life after" and went back to school, training for a second career as a travel agent, work she enjoyed for many years thereafter.
After living practically her entire life in the Midwest, Langer decided to pull up stakes in 1998 and head to California where she had always wanted to live. She knew she had made the right decision after seeing an advertisement in a travel magazine. It read: The sun comes up in the east as an obligation. Then the sun heads for California out of blatant self-interest. The sun is no dummy. California: find yourself here.
…
Retired now from the wacky world of travel planning, Langer has immersed herself in volunteer work and has renewed her love for writing, becoming an active member of the 100-year-old California Writers Club. She resides happily in the San Francisco Bay Area where she continues to meet life's challenges, but in better weather.

Early reviews of Langer's second book A Funny Thing Happened on  My Way to the World: Diary of a Fearless Travel Agent agree on her command of humor, as well as her ability to captivate readers with her tales of adventure, too.
