Hector's War

Hector Plouvier joins the army and goes off to fight in the trenches in France, not knowing that before leaving Alberta, he impregnated his Aunt Sammy. Her life will never bethe same. Three years later, after enduring one final assault, Hector leaves his identity tags with the corpse of a fallen comrade. He never goes down into the trenches again. Nor does he ever go home. Instead, he joins the trek west, away from the fighting, travelling with a French family.

Hector's War is a long fight that only intensifies after the last battle. George Wing uses his experience as soldier, teacher and family man to infuse Hector's War with all the complexity of life and life's decisions.
