Item description from seller

An association copy of the history of the Martin family; the second edition of this work, inscribed by the author. The scarce second edition of this work in a cloth library binding. Library bookplate to the front paste down. Inscribed by the author to Harold Tottie to the verso of the first blank page, dated 1916. In this work, Stapleton Martin traces the history of his family from Thomas Martin of Anstey, who died in 1594, until the contemporary time, describing his family as they were at that time. With a few blank pages to the rear for notes. [John] Stapleton Martin (c1847-1922) studied at Christ's College, Cambridge, and later became a barrister. In a cloth library binding. Externally smart, though with light shelf wear to the boards, spine and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean except for a scattering of spots to the first and last few pages. Very Good.
