The volume gathers the successive Baltimore clubs under one cover, treating the American Association years, the Negro Leagues, and the Major League era, with the Orioles and their predecessors placed alongside teams such as the Marylands, the Terrapins, the Black Sox and the Elite Giants. The interior is given over largely to photographic illustration, with numerous images of players, teams and ballparks drawn from local sources. Issued in orange cloth boards with a brown illustrated dust jacket, the book runs to roughly fifty pages in its 1958 first state; copies were subsequently accompanied by annual supplements bringing the record forward season by season.
