The 81/2X 12" comb-bound softcover is a facsimile of Miller's manuscript reflection, agonizing about his relationship with his wife Hiroko 'Hoki' Tokuda. Binding straight, deckled pages clean and unmarked. Laid-in: original mailing envelope with 1970 date stamp, containing promotional broadside for the book and a warm personal note written and signed by Miller to the original buyer. Originally included 12 loose watercolor plates by Miller, not present. Book protected by decorative blue/gold wrap-around dust jacket. Housed in large (19"X23 7/8", ) wood/cork custom box with sliding cover. Box is foam-lined, with front pastedown a b/w photo of Miller with his wife and subject of the book, Hoki Tokudath. Although listed as 385 copies, it is likely that only 300 wooden boxes were constructed (Shifreen & Jackson A175f) Pictorial paper pastedown shows edge tears but is otherwise intact.; Signed by Author.
