Octavo, xi, 315pp. Maroon cloth, title in gilt with gilt rule on cover. The second edition, with the first being printed in 1919. Text block loose, occasional tape repairs to the text block. Covers worn from handling, toning to spine. Inscribed by Roosevelt confidant and writer Lawrence F. Abbott: "Inscribed for Carolyn Wells Houghton, with the best wishes of Lawrence F. Abbott. New York, March 5th, 1920." Bookplate of Ms. Carolyn Wells on the front free endpaper. Includes a letter from the son of President Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt Jr., to Ms. Wells. Carolyn Wells was a close friend of Edith Kermit Roosevelt and dedicated one of her books to the former First Lady. Seller Inventory # 10515
