Printed wraps 17 x 23cm with covers in English and Arabic. 5 + 235pp Arabic text + VII pp English text (title page and contents only), with Arabic errata slip laid in. Good, lightly creased and marked with tears and loss to spine ends. Manuscript correction to the English contents, possibly by the author. Rare - 6 copies on Worldcat, none on Copac (OCLC 62270670). In three parts, this deals with the making of the state, its physical environment, and research sources and methods. The author's inscription to the title page is addressed to Professor Dr Georg Eckert, signed and dated Bagdad 11/12/1953. At this time, Zaki Saleh was Professor of Modern History at the Higher Teachers College, Baghdad, and Georg Eckert (1912-77) Professor of History and Historiography at the Kant Hochschule in Braunschweig, whose institutional stamp is on the cover.
