Exceedingly rare boxed, signed, numbered first edition hardcover in dark green cloth covered beveled boards with the Keeneland initial in a laurel wreath blindstamped on lower frt corner, quarter-bound in rich brown leather with four raised band spine and bright gilt title. Front pastedown and fep are deep blue/gold marbled paper with triple gilt ruling on edges, surrounding a custom signed, numbered applied plate signed by W.Strode and hand numbered #122 of only 500 issued. Patron's signed letter applied to the page opposite the Introduction page. Book supplied with a custom olive green cloth clamshell case with quarter-bound leather has a bump at head of rear spine, the cloth is lighter than the book cloth evenly sunned with bright gilt title below applied color art on cover of blue velvet lined clamshell box. See photos, the book itself in mint condition. No names, tears, soil, or page 'dents' in the tight, crisp 135pp text. Profusely illustrated with gorgeous paintings by Peter Williams, and amazing photographs by William Strode amongst the essays written by William F. Reed. The official Patron's edition of the Fiftieth Anniversary book of the Keeneland Association, celebrates the first half-century of the famous Lexington, Kentucky thoroughbred race course and sales auctions.
