A letter to Mrs. Anne Murray, wife of John Murray II of the John Murray Publishing House from Sara Coleridge, dated between 1837-1843. The letter is signed from the Coleridge's home at Chester Place, to which they moved in 1837, and references Mr. Coleridge still living; as he passed in 1843, the dating of the letter is within that range. Sara Coleridge had a long relationship with the Murrays, having previously translated Martin Dobrizhoffer's Historia de Abiponibus as An Account of the Abipones: An Equestrian People of Paraguay for John Murray in 1822. In the letter, Coleridge declines an invitation for her children to stay with the Murrays, as they had only recent overcome influenza, but acknowledges that it would have given her and her husband much pleasure for her children to get to know the Murray's guests, who regularly included Sir Walter Scott, Lord Byron, and Jane Austen.
