Add to basket2pp. Single sheet, folded. Handwritten letter by Rolfe, dated June 20, 1890 and sent from Cambridge, Massachusetts. Rolfe writes to DuPrat & Co, updating them on the prospects of his providing an introduction for a single play they'd like to publish, in light of his commitment to Harpers. He commits to do so for fifty dollars. The play was Antony and Cleopatra. The DuPrat edition appeared the following year, a DeLuxe edition in a run of 150 copies, 50 on Japan paper and 100 on Holland paper. The edition contained seventeen illustrations by Paul Avril. Rolfe was a foremost Shakespearean scholar in his day, and the addition of his introduction was a stamp of approval for the edition. Interesting piece of publishing history and Shakespearean scholarship. Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall.
