Stand-alone reprint of an article in Volume XLI, No. 2, Winter 1972 of the University of Toronto Quarterly, pp. 93-150, side-stapled. Forty-four letters from Emily Carr (1871-1945) to Ruth Humphrey between 1937 and 1944. During this time Miss Humphrey was a professor of English in Victoria College. The title page of this reprint is inscribed "To dear Dorothy, who first said that these letters should be published, and then did much devoted and careful checking. With Ruth's love". Dorothy is undoubtedly Dr. Dorothy Blakey Smith who assisted with preparing corrected typscripts for publication. There are a few informed marginal corrections, probably by Dorothy Smith.
