Cover is oversized grey stock with gilt lettering and black and white photo of Bowering, Lane and another man at a table drinking beer with several empties arrayed before them, corners and edges of cover show some bending and wrinkling due in part to the fact that the cover is larger than the text block. Construction appears to be a hybrid of styles with the text block being first stapled and the jacket then glued over top along what would be the spine gutter. Signed by Bowering on title page and previously owned by two other Canadian literary luminaries, John Metcalf and Greg Gatenby, who have also signed on same. Red Lane is the brother of Patrick Lane a much celebrated Canadian poet and previous winner of the Governor General's award. He died of a cerebral hemhorrage in 1964.
