Lewis & Clark in the Bitterroot

For six women who live in the Bitterroot Valley in western Montana, a fascination with the Lewis and Clark Expedition (the Corps of Discovery) led to an opportunity for them to work together to produce a book about the Expedition's two historically important visits to the Bitterroot, in 1805 and 1806. This book, "Lewis and Clark In the Bitterroot," is the result of their collaborative efforts--and the motivation for their desire to be known as "The Discovery Writers." As is the case in any collaborative effort, the group utilized unique talents and interests from each of the members to accomplish its task. For example, one is a gifted published writer with organizational and supervisory skills. Another is an active naturalist, a third a nurse with consummate interest in the medicinal aspects of the journey, two others with excellent research and writing skills, and a sixth with amazing artistic talent--plus, a flair for minute cartographic detail. Combined, they are The Discovery Wrtiers.
