Quite uncommon Inscribed Copy of the most influential book in the history of modern political reporting, Theodore White's narrative, peek-behind-the-curtain account of the John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon presidential campaigns during the 1960 election. White's style, behind-the-scenes reporting (particularly from within the Kennedy camp), and description of political nuts-and-bolts were dazzlingly innovative and rapidly evolved into standards for later election scribes. Inscribed by Theodore White to a previous owner on the half-title page. (The inscription reads to To my friend X, with the affection and admiration of Teddy White." Then below the inscription he also signs as Theodore H. White.) Blue cloth, 400 pages. No dust jacket. The original issue of the Book of the Month Club edition, which has cloth covers and a 1961 date on the title page. Has the book club's blindstamp at the bottom of the spine edge of the back cover. Has some tanning of the page edges and light edge wear on the covers.
