Four tipped-in illustrations, including frontispiece. pp. 62, [1]. 8 x 5 inches. Rare. One copy noted on OCLC (Univ. of Kansas). Wartime memoirs of Martin F. Jackson, the first Christian Science practitioner to become an Army chaplain. [YouTube ref: The Mary Eddy Baker Library channel's video ''World War I Christian Science Chaplain: Martin Jackson''. He describes his experiences as chaplain at the front line working with soldiers in camps and hospitals and indicates the benefit and healing there through the practice of Christian Science. Martin Fitzland Jackson (1878-1927) became an active follower of Christian Science early in life. In 1904, he was First Reader at Jamestown, New York. In 1917, he reported to Camp Dix and was initially assigned to the 153rd Depot Brigade, slated to go to France as part of the American Expeditionary Force. After his notable service at the front, he returned to the U.S. in August 1919. In the following year, he served as the ''Chairman of the Executive Committee of Christian Science Delegates'' of New York state. He also resided at times over the years in Buffalo and New York City. He is buried in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Seller Inventory # 014795
