Timeless Cowboy Poetry That Echoes the Spirit of the Wild West
Step into the rugged heart of Montana ranch life with Mike Logan's third celebrated collection of cowboy poetry. Inspired by the legendary Charlie Russell and crafted with wit, warmth, and authentic western tradition, these poems capture the beauty, humor, and challenges of the open range as it faces a changing world.
"Mike's work is an example that all aspiring poets should follow. His ability is such that few others can match him."
—Darrell Arnold, Editor/Publisher, Cowboy Magazine
For those who cherish the open range and the enduring cowboy way, this poetry collection resonates with passion and timeless truth.
Mike Logan, a veteran photographer, had a lifelong interest in ranch life spurred him to capture his observations on film and in verse. Mike's keen insight and expansive western spirit won him national acclaim, both as a featured poet and emcee at The National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada, and as a guest on John Denver's 1991 "Montana Christmas Skies" television special. His words and photographs have also been published in numerous books, magazines, and calendars.
Mike's fascination with Yellowstone began when he was just out of high school. On a trip from his native southeast Kansas to work for the U.S. Forest Service in Idaho, he passed through Yellowstone. He never fully recovered from the experience.
Mike Korn is a multi-talented individual. Long-time folklorist for the state of Montana, he is a warehouse of knowledge about the folk ways of the West and of Montana. Mike is a gifted illustrator, writer, musician, speaker, leatherworker, and sometimes cowhand. Mike currently works for the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
He lives near Helena with his wife Jane and twin daughters, Lauren and Alicia.
As one of the founders of The National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada, and The Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering, Mike Korn has left permanent tracks across the West.
