Albany May 23, 1812. 1pg. Oblong 10.5 x 16", paper, folded vertically, water stained at top and middle fold, chipped at top and bottom edges, weak at folds, some discolor and minor offset but with embossed "Excelsior" seal. Appointment of Daniel Goodwin Surgeon's Mate of the 42 Regiment, state infantry. BOLDLY SIGNED BY TOMPKINS AS GOVERNOR OF NEW YORK. Tomkins was Vice President under Madison, 1817-25. Also signed by secretary.
