This is a publisher's proof of a page from The Photo-Journal Guide to Comic Books, 1990, signed and numbered (lower right) from a limited edition. In 1990 Ernst Gerber published the Photo-Journal Guide to Comic Books. This was a 4 volume set of books illustrating every American comic to date and is still one of the most comprehensive and exhaustive forays into the history and art of comic books. Featuring over 20,000 cover images across two oversized volumes, The Photo-Journals document comic books published during the Golden Age (1938-45) and into the dawn of the Silver Age (mid-1950s), reproducing each cover in full-color, photographed from the best possible copies of each issue available. In addition, each series listing features supplemental information noting publication year, creators, scarcity guide, and more. No comic collector's reference library is complete without these massive, comprehensive, informative tomes. Volume 1 features Golden and Silver Age comics listed alphabetically from A-J, including Action Comics, Archie, Batman, All-Star Comics, Captain America, Detective Comics, and many, many more! Most orders are received next working day (UK) or 5 working days (outside UK), although you should allow up to 28 days for delivery. All books are despatched by air courier (except in UK or as previously agreed). We cannot deliver to a P.O. Box address - please provide a 'street address'.
