Shipped with care. --- A large-format monograph of color plates by Jay Dunitz from his Pacific Light series of abstract Cibachrome photographs. The images record the surface of stainless steel that he altered by hand with a blowtorch, grinder and wire brush. Because the colors and textures produced on freshly worked metal soon faded, photography became his means of fixing them. The resulting pictures are nonrepresentational: curved lines and angular forms in intense teal, magenta and blue set against dark grounds. The plates are numbered within the series, and the text includes an introduction and an afterword by two other writers.
