Signed by author on title page. Covers show very minimal wear. Text clean. Binding sound. A nice copy. According to the author, "To the next generation the events of my time are as remote as that April day in 1898 when my father ran from grammar school shouting, 'Remember the Maine, To hell with Spain!'" The author's narrative is pieced together from love letters, cancelled checks, military orders and office diaries to be read as folklore, not as history.
