Patriotic 1st class envelope. SIGNED by General of the Army Matthew B. Ridgeway. Printed statement on envelope reads -"St. Patrick Drove The Snakes Out of Ireland General Ike will Drive them out of Europe." Fine. General Ridgway took command of the 82nd. Airborne in 1942. He Jumped into Sicily and later Salerno. On June 6th he parachuted into Normandy on D-Day. He was Supreme Commander in Korea by 1951 after transforming the demoralized U. S. Eighth Army into an aggressive combat force.
