Tan boards, 3/4 brown cloth with gold decoration, paper spine label with titles in black, t.e.g., fore- and bottom edges untrimmed, frontis portrait of Alcott, "The five pen-and-ink drawings are by Conrad G. Robillard", index. Limited edition of 500, this being no.445, signed by the author (note on limitation page states "This First Edition, printed on an all-rag paper, consists of five hundred numbered copies, four hundred and fifty of which are for sale and signed by the Author"). Tan slipcase with paper label on spine. Pristine, unmarked copy. Bookseller accession no.: 19109. Alcott, 1799-1888, was an American educator, reformer, author, and father of Louisa May Alcott.
