Image 5-3/4 x 3-3/4 inches, mounted on photographer's backing board, 6 x 9 inches overall. 1 vols. A fine head-and-shoulders photograph of the celebrated Southwestern author INSCRIBED IN INK OF THE VERSO, "Mr. Paul L. Anderson / Compliments from / His truly / E.M. Rhodes". Eugene Manlove Rhodes, from his twelth year, 1881, until 1906, worked as a cowboy, miner and rancher in New Mexico, to which he returned in 1926 from New York, having in the interim written seven books and about a hundred stories, all but five stories dealing with New Mexico and New Mexicans. His novels, although about the West, are not the cliché works of fiction, but are characterized by a genuine literary merit. Rhodes Pass, in the San Andrés mountains, was named for him. Image 5-3/4 x 3-3/4 inches, mounted on photographer's backing board, 6 x 9 inches overall. 1 vols.
