Johannes Arnoldus Boland (1838-1922) was a Dutch graphic artist and draughtsman, who was assisstant of the Rijksprentenkabinet of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam from 1886 to 1917. This print was made to commemmorate his departure from the Rijksprentenkabinet at age 78. The caption is: 'J.A. Boland bij zijn vertrek van 's Rijks Prentenkabinet aangeboden door Ambtenaren en Commissie van Toezicht van 's Rijks Museum'. Lithograph on chine-coll�, sheet size 323 x 385 mm., image size 296 x 356 mm. Made by Georg Rueter (1875-1966), and signed in pencil in the top right corner. In good condition, some foxing in the left and lower margins and image edge, a small nick in the lower edge of the support sheet.
