A much used but complete copy inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper to Richard Talbot Kelly whose bookplate is on the front paste-down. Talbot Kelly later became renowned for his paintings, particularly of ornithological subjects, and in 1925 was elected to the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. He was also a founder-member of the Society of Wildlife Artists. This book was given to him in 1906 when he would have been ten years old. Paper covered boards with bumped corners, worn edges, wear to spine with net exposed on joints and an area of loss to the base ( 6cms)Tanning to prelims, but no foxing. Binding is loose but still holding. 32 x 25 cms . Card pages with finger marks to the bottom of many. Book consists of 20 comic"Scenes" each with an accompanying illustration in black and white.
