"The Process of Color-block Printing" by Sadao Watanabe (Japanese 1913-1996) * Accordian like book 3 5/8" wide x 5 9/16" tall when closed. Opens to left in one continuous accordionlike sheet. * Fully opened measures 98 1/2" long. Opens to left. * Only text is a printed label on page one which explains some details of blockprinting. * Print has a snow capped Mt. Fuji in the distance, a sailing vessel in a bay with waves breaking in the foregound framed by trees hanging onto a steep slope. * 12 pages are of a block printed in its color alone. * 12 pages show the succesive addition of each color to the work as a whole ending with the finished work printed with all blocks or colors. * Finished work signed at lower left with inscriptions at upper right. * A little age toning of end pages. * 24 pages unpaginated. * Handmade mulberry paper. * Title label on front has a little scuff missing several letters.* Paper covered boards. * A little foxing on cover and page 1 and 2 otherwise in very nice condition.
