Original musical programme for a 1950's performance by Marian Anderson. Octavo. Single sheet, folded once to make four pages. A fine copy. Signed on the cover by Anderson. Front cover prints six paragraphs about Marian Anderson, including biographical material, awards, etc. The other three pages print a program for the performance, including song titles, composers, and selections from the lyrics of a few pieces. Included are songs by Handel, Schubert, Donizetti, Benjamin Britten, Samuel Barber et al. The last portion of the performance is dedicated entirely to "Negro Spirituals," including Langston Hughes' "The Negro Speaks of Rivers," with music by Howard Swanson, "Poor Me" arranged by Nathanial Dett; "Roll Jordan Roll" arranged by Hall Johnson, etc. Seller Inventory # 518370
