Michael O'Hara's company, O'Hara Enterprises International, Inc. (OEI), has pioneered more college, professional and Olympic sporting endeavors than any company in history. OEI helped establish professional sports leagues in basketball, hockey and volleyball in the United States.
O'Hara has co-founded and co-owned teams that ultimately won a Stanley Cup and a NBA championship. O'Hara served as commissioner of two sport leagues as well as a college conference. One of the innovators of the three point play for basketball when helping form the American Basketball Association, O'Hara also conceived the Rally Scoring System for volleyball worldwide and was successful in initiating the addition of Beach Volleyball into the 1992 Olympic Games. He was one of two founders of the sport of Wallyball. His volleyball roles have included USVBA Board of Directors, U.S. representative to FIVB-Public Relations Committee and International Technical Director for Beach Volleyball.
O'Hara was vice-president of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee, responsible for the presentation of the 1984 Olympic Games. In addition to being the most successful single sporting event produced in the United States, the unique business approach established the legacy for all future Olympic Games.
