[2], i-xvi, 17-350 pages. Hardcover: H 17.5cm x L 12.75cm. Original brown cloth decorated with black and gilt stamping to spine and front board; deep chipping at frayed spine ends, light soiling to boards. Edges toned; some foxing to endpapers strongest at gutters; light toning to interior leaves with scattered light foxing. Binding is firm. Scarce West Point, Mississippi bookseller ink stamp "P.B. Dugan & Co; | Drugs, & Books. | West Point, Miss." at front free endpaper's top right; oval purple ink stamp should probably be contemporary to book's publication as Dr. P.B. Dugan apparently moved on to a banking career in the early 1880s. Bottom left corner of rear pastedown has four-point diamond-shaped black and light brown bindery ticket "Bound at the Riverside Press" which makes this a signed binding for Riverside Press in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
