Store description

Established as a mail-order dealer in 1975, The Jumping Frog opened its first store in Hartford in 1983. Following three relocations in Hartford, our store has resided at Arbor Arts Center, 56 Arbor Street, Hartford, for more than twenty years. Located about one mile from Mark Twain’s Hartford home, now a museum dedicated to his life & work, The Jumping Frog is named for Mark Twain’s first published work, The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County. Our in-store stock includes Connecticut history, books about books, children’s books, art, architecture, photography, first editions, autographed books, transportation, music & dance, literature, and, naturally, books by and about Mark Twain. Our store stock is not listed anywhere and visits by appointment are invited. The items offered on AbeBooks are catalogued for on-line viewing & purchase; they are not browsable at our Hartford store. We have been selling ephemera on-line since 1998 and continue to add to our listings, now exceeding 181,000. Our sister company, McBride/Publisher, offers these books for book collectors: A Pocket Guide to the Identification of First Editions, Points of Issue and Mark Twain: A Bibliography. All are listed on AbeBooks.
