A copy signed by G.D.H. Cole of the 1952 printing of the revised edition of Cole's survey of the history of the British working class movement. Cole was a notable figure to both political activists and mystery enthusiasts in the first half of the 20th century. He was a provocative economic and political theorist and a central figure in the Guild Socialism movement on the British left. Meanwhile, on the popular literature front, he and spouse M. (Margaret) fashioned an impressive string of well-received period mysteries. Signed by G.D.H. Cole on the half- title page. Red cloth, 500 pages. Third Printing (1952) of the Revised Edition originally published in 1948. No dust jacket. Has edge wear on the fore edge of the back cover and on the top edge near the spine of both covers. In both areas the wear reaches the boards. Also, a bit of edge wear on the bottom edge. Otherwise, minimal sign of previous use. We'll cheerfully provide photos upon request.
