Privately printed, San Francisco, 1924. hardcover, 276 pp. Tall format, with gold stamped suede-covered boards. With author's frontispiece photo and tissue guard. Memoir of Paul Shoup (1874-1946), the past president of the Southern Pacific Railroad and a co-founder of the city of Los Altos, California. He appeared on the cover of Time magazine in August of 1929. Mr. Shoup was a praciticing writer of articles before starting his successful career in business. Very good with boards slightly bowed outward, small stains to leather at foot of spine and lower front board near spine, and a few spots near foot of rear board. See all photos. Gold titles on front board have slight loss. Interior is very clean with just marginal condensation stain in top corner near spine, slightly affecting about the first 40 pages. No dust jacket, as issued. Signed, inscribed and dated by the author, in March of 1943.
